How do I check out books?

Spring 2024

Answer

Visit the library during in-person hours to check out books. Search the library's catalog for physical books and other items (e.g. DVDs, CDs) available for checkout. You will need to present your SAC student ID or a valid government-issued photo ID at the time of checkout. We do not accept photos/copies of IDs.

Textbooks, reference books, atlas books, and other non-circulating books are not available for checkout.

Loan periods

  • The majority of library materials can be checked out for 3 weeks.
  • Books of the Year are only available for 2 weeks. You can request another copy when needed.
  • To avoid late fees, return your book by the due date. Return areas include the library's indoor drop box during in-person hours or the library book drop map located behind the library.

Borrower limits

  • Students and Staff can check out up to 15 items.
  • Faculty can check out up to 99 items.
  • Community users can check out up to 5 items.

Staff and community members are not eligible to check out course reserve items located behind the circulation desk.
